Hello
I am a psychotherapist working with individuals and couples in both traditional and diverse relationships. With ten years of experience, I have supported people from a wide range of backgrounds helping them navigate challenges such as bereavement, anxiety, identity, family dynamics, trauma and personal growth.

About Me

I am a Humanistic psychotherapist, accredited by the UKCP, and I offer in-person sessions at my practice in North Shields. I use a range of theories and approaches which allows me to tailor your therapy to you.
Before training as a therapist I had a successful corporate career where I found myself increasingly drawn to people development rather than business targets. Following my own transformative experience with therapy, I chose this career which contributes to my sense of purpose and meaning.
Personally, my roots are firmly in the local area and after travelling with work, living away and abroad, I’ve come to appreciate that there’s no place like home. As a psychotherapist, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients from various backgrounds, lifestyles, and professions. Whoever you are, you are welcome here.
Working with me
The first few sessions are normally spent getting to know you so I can have a good enough understanding of what your aims are and therefore tailor your therapy to you.
Relationship and Couples Therapy
I work with a broad range of relationship dynamics including ethical non-monogamous relationships and same sex relationships. Sometimes couples come to therapy if they're disagreeing about the same topic in the same way repeatedly, if they are unable to resolve conflict, they've lost their connection or if the relationship just somehow isn't working the way they want it to.
I also work with couples in the aftermath of a betrayal and those seeking support for fertility related experiences.
Many couples seek therapy when they reach a crisis point and while this is a valid reason to reach out, I encourage seeking support earlier to strengthen and improve the relationship before issues escalate.
Individual Therapy
My approach is to meet you with compassion and acceptance, to provide a setting that fosters trust and a professional relationship within which you can speak freely. A spell of time is usually needed to understand your context and patterns of thinking before a plan can be made that allows us to work together towards your aims.
For some individuals, gaining understanding of themselves and bringing unconscious thinking into focus can be empowering and is sometimes all that is needed. For others, longer term therapy is preferred to work through aspects of your frame of reference that is keeping you stuck or presenting as problematic somehow in your life. In some instances, simply having someone to talk to is enough.
